What they're saying:

Every month, Gayle inspires us, and our readers, with her creativity.
Her work has graced our covers for more than two years, and she’s still going strong!

Eugenie Sills, Founder and Publisher - The Women’s Times

Gayle is smart creative and fun to work with. Gayle designed my beautiful and marketable logo.
Peter Jones, CEO - ACIS - The Premier Education Travel Company

Gayle is fantastic. One look at my website londonlace.com says it all. She is great to work with, understood my needs, is efficient with her hours and I'm thrilled with the end product.
Diane Loesch-Jones, Owner - London Lace

Gayle is a joy to work with. I love her economy of line and her color is fresh and gorgeous. I love seeing what color-fields she will come up with next. When her email arrives its like opening a gift, what color surprises will I unwrap next.
Scot McDonald, Art director -David C. Cook

I have been fortunate to work with Gayle in a number of capacities. Of course, illustration was the initial "draw"... but I soon realized that her insight and enthusiasm enhanced,in fact created, the next opportunity. There are plenty of illustrators... there are few "collaborative illustrators."  Gayle is one!
Drew Haygaman, CEO - Phase 2 Design

I have hired Gayle for several illustration jobs over the past few years. Gayle continually puts out fresh, creative work and has always met our deadlines. Besides her artistic skill, Gayle is very knowledgeable about the digital process. When working with Gayle on a project, I have one less thing to worry about. Working with Gayle is a true pleasure.

Gayle's generosity of spirit comes through in all her work.  Her vision, enthusiasm and honesty combine to make her not only a wonderful designer and illustrator but a valued
creative partner.

Bio

I’m a creative spirit.  I love designing and illustrating and am thrilled to be able to do what I love in the  Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. From starting out in San Francisco as a fashion illustrator to recently promoting concerts in the Pioneer Valley, I’ve been lucky to explore so many of my passions – and am happy to share them with whoever asks!

In fact, what really gets me excited is coming up with great solutions to all types of challenges – reworking a website, promoting a project, directing a film or just brainstorming ways to get more business.  One of my favorite things to do is to make connections – get the right talents together for a project and watch the sparks fly!  Whether it’s a design job, concert, fundraiser, campaign or film, a solid team makes all the difference and recruiting the right folks for any given job is one of the things I do best.

My work is used in lots of different ways: marketing collateral, editorial, animation, web design and logo and brand development and I always welcome a challenge.  Take a look through my portfolio, browse the projects I’ve worked on.  You’ll get a good idea of what I can do – and maybe we can work together on something soon.   You can find me on Facebook (logo/link) and LinkedIn (logo link) or feel free to email (link) too.

MY FAMILY
I’m especially lucky to be surrounded by creativity most of the time.  My husband, Peter Kitchell is an accomplished photographer and artist.  And, our kids have gotten the artistic gene:  Our daughter, Sonya Kitchell is a touring singer/songwriter and our son, Max Kitchell is on his way to becoming a fabulous photographer.

RECENT PROJECTS

Website Design  Designed and illustrated London Lace and Shelburne Falls Yoga websites. A devoted yogi, I do all the graphics for Shelburne Falls Yoga as well.  See projects for more info.

Licensing  Editions Limited publishes my floral posters and giclees.

Animated Music Video  Lighthouse was inspired by my daughter Sonya's song and some moving images of   illustrator Anthony Russo. Anthony collaborated with me on it to get it going, and Evan Yeadon did all the Flash animation.  It won the Best Music Video at the Ashfield FilmFest 2010.

Filmmaking  I directed, wrote and produced two award winning 5 min. movies - The Great Ashfield Pancaper and Pancaper 2 - Mr Jones Strikes Back. These shorts won Grand Prize in 2009 and First Prize in 2010  at the Ashfield film Festival in my hometown. One of the fun parts of the filmmaking was creating the covers below for a sequence in Pancaper 2. Prints of these now reside at Elmer's Store in Ashfield, MA, home of the Yankee Magazine-voted best pancakes in all of New England - and the inspiration for my movies. Click here to see the covers enlarged and read the headlines that were so much fun to write!

Concert Promotion  I am currently producing the Signature Sounds Concert Series in Shelburne Falls, MA with Jim Olsen – owner of Signature Sounds. We produce about six shows a year in a fabulous old 450 - seat theater. I often design the concert posters for the shows.
